Using Decision Dynamic Content [Beta]

Beta Feature: Decision Dynamic Content is in beta. Contact your Technical Account Manager for access. Setup steps and names may change before general availability.

A Decision is dynamic content that uses AI to answer a question about your data with a single value: either the probability that a statement is true, or one option from a list you define. You can use it anywhere you use text dynamic content, including Slide Conditions and Formulas.

A Decision returns much faster than Insights Dynamic Content because it uses OpenAI's Decisions API, a lighter-weight AI service built for this kind of answer.

When to Use a Decision

Use a Formula when the logic can be expressed with deterministic functions and comparisons on your values, such as "NPS is at or above target." The same data always gives the same answer. Use a Decision when the answer takes judgment that functions and comparisons can't capture, such as weighing several signals at once or interpreting call notes.

If you need... Use Example
A result from deterministic functions and comparisons Formula "On Track" if NPS is at or above target
A probability or selected option, based on judgment Decision Whether an account is Healthy, Needs Attention, or At Risk, based on usage, tickets, and call notes
AI-written content or tables Insights A summary of the account's quarter

Decision Types

Probability

You write a statement. The Decision returns the probability that the statement is true, as a number from 0 to 1. A result of 0.82 means an 82% chance the statement is true.

Choice

Use Choice when you want AI to sort something into one of your categories. You write a prompt and list the options, and the Decision returns the option that fits best, exactly as you wrote it.

Each option can have a description. Descriptions are optional, but they help the AI tell your options apart. Use them to say what makes each option apply: the signals, thresholds, or wording you would look for. They matter most when two options are close.

See Example Use Cases for complete setups of both types.

Creating a Decision

  1. Create new dynamic content. Under Or start from scratch, choose Transform or decide and click Continue.
  2. Set Calculation type to Decision.
  3. Set Decision type to Probability or Choice.
  4. Write your prompt. A Decision sees only the data your prompt references, so reference everything that should inform the answer: {{dynamic_content_name}} for other dynamic content and &:input_name for inputs.
  5. For Choice, add your options under Options with Add option. Each option needs a value, and can have a description.
  6. Test the dynamic content and save it.

You can also ask the Matik AI Agent to create a Decision for you.

Example Use Cases

A Decision works like any other text dynamic content. These examples show a few ways to use one. Each references dynamic content you would already have in your template, such as account usage or call notes.

Label account health

Create a Choice with this prompt and these options:

Classify this account's health based on its active users over the last 90 days in {{active_user_trend}}, its open support tickets in {{open_support_tickets}}, and its recent call notes in {{recent_call_notes}}.
Option Description
Healthy Active users are steady or growing, there are no escalated tickets, and call notes are positive or neutral.
Needs Attention Active users are declining, or the customer has escalated a ticket, but there is no talk of leaving or cutting spend.
At Risk The customer has mentioned cancelling, budget cuts, a competitor, or a new decision-maker who was not part of the original purchase.

Tag it on a QBR title slide or account summary, so each presentation shows the account's health label.

Assess renewal likelihood

Create a Probability named renewal_likelihood with this prompt:

This account will renew at its current contract value, based on its seat usage in {{seat_utilization}}, its active users over the last 90 days in {{active_user_trend}}, and its recent call notes in {{recent_call_notes}}.

Then reference it in a Formula on your renewal slide. IF({{renewal_likelihood}} >= 0.7, "Likely to renew", "Renewal at risk") returns a label, and FORMAT({{renewal_likelihood}}, "percent") shows the probability as a percentage.

Include an expansion slide when the account is ready

Create a Probability with this prompt:

This account is ready for an expansion conversation, based on its seat usage in {{seat_utilization}} and its recent call notes in {{recent_call_notes}}. Mentions of new teams, new use cases, or hitting seat limits count toward readiness.

Then add a Slide Condition to your expansion slide that keeps it when the Decision is > 0.6. Accounts that aren't ready never see the slide.

Pick the most relevant case study

Create a Choice with this prompt and these options:

Pick the case study most similar to this account, based on its industry in {{account_industry}}, its employee count in {{account_size}}, and the products it owns in {{products_owned}}.
Option Description
Northwind Logistics Logistics company with about 2,000 employees. Automated weekly carrier performance reviews for its operations team.
Contoso Health Regional healthcare provider. Automated quarterly business reviews for hospital customers using Salesforce and Snowflake data.
Fabrikam Software B2B software company with a 40-person customer success team. Scaled renewal decks across every account.

Then give each case study slide a Slide Condition that matches its option, such as = Northwind Logistics. Only the matching slide stays in the presentation.

Limitations

  • One value only: A Decision returns a single text value. For tables, multiple fields, or longer writing, use Insights.
  • No web search or connectors: A Decision uses only the data your prompt references.
  • Options: A Choice needs between 2 and 255 options, and each option must be unique.

Troubleshooting

Message Cause Resolution
The model declined to make this decision. The AI would not answer the prompt, usually because the prompt or data gives it nothing to judge. Check that the referenced dynamic content returns data, and reword the statement or options so they can be answered from that data.
Add between 2 and 255 options. A Choice has fewer than 2 options, or more than 255. Add or remove options. Options without a value do not count.
Each option must be unique. Two options have the same value. Rename or remove the duplicate.
