Conditional Sides are slides in a Matik template that are removed from a presentation generation if they do not meet specified criteria. Conditions are based on text dynamic content. Conditional Slides are great for creating dynamic decks that are adaptable to your unique customers' needs. For example, let's say you have 5 different product add-ons that each have their own slide in a template. Use Conditional Sides to only keep the relevant product add-on slides for a specific customer.
The slide conditions you create can be applied across multiple slides and templates throughout Matik. If you create and apply a condition in one template, it will be available for use in other templates. Whenever you update that condition, all slides & templates it’s used in will receive that update. Slides can also contain more than one set of conditions. See below for more information on managing multiple conditions on one slide.
Setup
Slide Conditions can be created and managed on template page of a Matik presentation.
- Select one or more slides you’d like the condition to apply to
Hint: Select or deselect multiple slides by holding the ‘Command’ key (Mac) or ‘Control’ key (Windows) and clicking on a slide. Select a range of slides by selecting the first slide and holding ‘Shift’ as you select the last slide. - Click the Conditions action button on the side of the screen or on the slides pill
- In the conditions modal popup:
-
- Name your condition
- Add dynamic content-based logic
- Only text (or number) dynamic content is supported. Please ensure you data is only returning one row.
- (Optional) Add a description of your condition
4. Save the condition.
The new condition will be saved and applied to your selected slides. It will also be available for use on other slides and/or templates.
Managing Slide Conditions
Slide Conditions can be managed in the left hand menu bar in the presentations tab or by clicking on the conditions menu on a slide. To edit an existing condition, click on its card in the sidepane.
You can then edit the name, description, and/or logic, and then save the condition.
Any changes you make will you apply everywhere the condition is used, across all slides and all templates.
Deleting Conditions
Deleting a condition removes it entirely from your enterprise, clearing it from all slides its used in, across all templates. It will no longer appear in the conditions list, and cannot be applied to slides.
To delete a condition, click on its card in the sidepane, and then click Delete Condition.
Applying Existing Conditions to Slides
You can also apply existing conditions to slides.
- You can select from any conditions previously created in your enterprise, even if they’re not yet used in your current template.
- You can apply conditions to multiple slides at once
- You can even apply conditions to a slide that already has other conditions applied.
To apply conditions:
- Select 1 or more slides
- Click the Conditions action but on the side or the conditions pill on the slides and select “Apply Condition”
- Find the condition you’d like to apply. You can select from any conditions in your enterprise. The list is searchable.
- Click the condition
It will be applied to all your selected slides.
💡If your selected slides already have other conditions applied, then by default, the new condition will be added as an OR group. (That is, the logic will default to “Keep this slide if {existing conditions} OR {newly applied condition.”) You can edit a slide’s conditions logic if needed.
Configuring Multiple Conditions on a Slide
You can apply multiple conditions to a slide. These conditions can themselves be combined into AND/OR groups, so that you can fine tune the required logic.
By default, when you apply more than one condition to a slide, each condition is added as an OR group. For instance, in this example, 3 conditions are applied to a slide, and the slide will be kept if any of these conditions is true:
However, you can edit/change this configuration.
- To manage the logic of multiple conditions on a slide, click on the numbered conditions icon on the slide itself:
- In the window that opens, you add/remove conditions to AND/OR groups. Place conditions into AND or OR groups as needed to configure your desired logic.
For instance, in this example, two conditions are combined into one AND group.
The result is that the slide will be kept if
- persona = data is True
- OR if both business_case_persona = CS operations AND lead_job_function = Customer Success are True
Tracking and Managing Conditions in a Template
You can use the new Conditions tab in the side panel to keep track of how conditions are applied in your template. The Conditions tab lists all the conditions that are included in your template, with:
- The condition’s color-coded icon. (This color corresponds to the colored condition dots that mark each slide in the template)
- The condition name
- The condition description (if one exists)
- And the number of slides where the condition is used in this template
To get a quick view of which slides use a particular condition, you can:
- Hover over the condition’s card in the side pane
- Click the ‘eye’ icon that appears
- This will filter the template to show only slides that use this condition
- Click the ‘x’ in the ‘Show Conditions’ pop-up to remove the filter.
If desired, you can filter on multiple conditions. In this case, we’ll filter the slides to show slides that use any of your selected conditions.
