CSV Bulk generation enables users to bulk send Matik Mail templates to a large list of recipients. With this functionality, a user doesn't need to manually enter input values into Matik. The user uploads a CSV file with a row of inputs for each email to be sent. Since each row of inputs is processed independently, using CSV Bulk Generation with Matik Mail also allows you to send emails to multiple people within the same organization and use different combinations of inputs within a bulk email send.
Setup
To use CSV bulk generation, create a CSV file with all of your input values using the format outlined in the CSV Bulk Generation Help Article. There is a 15,000 row limit for CSV Bulk Generation with Matik Mail. If your CSV file is more than 15,000 rows you will need to split it into separate files and batch send. Note that your organization must have CSV bulk generation turned on in its Enterprise Settings.
When ready to send, navigate to the email template on which you wish to send a CSV bulk generation. Click the dropdown next to the send email button and select "Bulk Generate from CSV". Select your CSV file and click on "Generate Immediately".
Remaining Emails and Status during CSV Bulk Generations
Since the number of emails generated during a CSV Matik Mail bulk generation can vary, the number of remaining emails displayed in the Flows tab may vary throughout the generation process.
Using CSV Upload to Bulk Send Mail to Individual Email Addresses
CSV Upload is a convenient way to bulk send mail to a list of email addresses. This can be useful if you wish to send emails to multiple people within a company or other bulk-able input since Matik Mail does not currently support sending multiple emails returned by dynamic recipients.
To enable a Matik Mail template to be sent out via a CSV file of emails and inputs a template must meet the following requirements:
- You must have an input for the email addresses
- The dynamic recipient's list must reference that email input above
Each row of your CSV file will represent an individual email send and should include columns for email address and any other required inputs for the dynamic content needed for email and attachment generation. To set up your CSV file refer to the instructions outlined in the CSV Bulk Generation Help Article. See below for an example.
Example Setup
First, we'll create a new input called email_address_csv_gen. We recommend making this a "User Input" - "Text Box" type input.
Next, we'll create a new dynamic recipients list called "manual_email_input". This will be a Static dynamic content type and will only include the email address input to pass through the value from the input.
We'll then add this new dynamic recipients list in our email template in the "To" field. Note that this will also enable us to send directly to recipients by filling out the inputs within Matik. However, we will be limited to only bulking on the email addresses and cannot change other inputs. In the example below, every email address will receive a message generated with the sole Customer Name input values below. To send different emails, we must use CSV bulk generation.
Finally, create your CSV bulk generation file. The file should have a row for each email recipient and columns for each input. For full instructions on how to create your CSV file see the CSV Bulk Generation Help Article. Use caution when creating your CSV file to ensure that the format and the values you enter are correct. There is no input validation on CSV generations so any incorrect or invalid values may result in the wrong data being sent or errors to occur in your emails.
When you are ready to send your email(s) to go the template page. Click on the Send Email dropdown and select "Bulk Generate from CSV". Select your CSV file and click "Generate Immediately".
