Slide looping allows end users to generate multiple slides of the same templated slide with different input values. For example, say you have a quarterly performance slide with an input that identifies the desired quarter for the slide. If you wanted to produce a slide for Q1 and a slide for Q2 in the same deck you could give end users the option to loop those slides. This would then allow end users the ability to select Q1 and Q2 when generating a presentation and any slides with dynamic content that used those inputs would be duplicated to show both the Q1 and the Q2 versions.
An admin must enable slide looping on a template's input before slide looping can be used by end users. To set up, navigate to the slide view of a template and click on the inputs menu bar on the left of the template screen.
To enable slide looping on an input, click on the loop icon.
You'll see a preview of the slides that will be looped on the selected input. Note that you cannot exclude slides from being looped. If a slide contains dynamic content that uses the looped input it must be included in looping.
Finally, click "Create Loop".
The looped input will display a solid blue looped icon and affected slides will have the slide looping icon on the thumbnail.
Slide looping will only work on single-select inputs. If you see the slide looping option is not available for an input, it is likely because that input is not a single-select input.
A slide cannot be looped multiple times on different inputs. E.g. If a slide is already looped, you cannot set up slide looping with an additional input that affects that slide.
Slide looping will not work on slides that contain dynamic content embedded into Google Sheet dynamic content. I.e., when other dynamic content is used as a Sheets input into Google Sheet dynamic content.
Editing Slide Looping
To remove slide looping for an input click on the looping icon next to the input or on a looped slide's thumbnail and click "Delete Loop" on the bottom right.
Generating Decks with Slide Looping
To generate a deck with slide looping, navigate to a template and fill out your inputs. Looped inputs are indicated with a blue loop icon. When you get to a looped input, simply select multiple options.
If you are bulk-generating presentations with a CSV file, separate the looped values with a semi-colon ;. See Bulk-Generating with a CSV file for more information.
