If an issue occurs while generating your Matik content, Matik displays an error or warning at the top of the generated page.
When an error occurs, Matik cannot generate the presentation at all.
When a warning occurs, Matik is able to generate the presentation; however, issues were encountered during generation and some Dynamic Content may be incomplete in certain places.
For more details on a warning or error, click Review Details. A sidebar opens where you can view Errors, Warnings, and Info for the generation.
Viewing Presentation Warnings
A presentation warning indicates a problem that occurred while Matik was processing Dynamic Content, but the presentation still finished generating.
Click the Warnings tab to view presentation warnings.
You will see a list of Dynamic Content items that experienced warnings. A single piece of Dynamic Content can trigger multiple warnings in one generation. Often there is one root issue that causes additional downstream problems, so the number of warnings can exceed the number of distinct issues. For example, if a Dynamic Content query fails due to a syntax error, this can lead to multiple insertion warnings when Matik attempts to write the non-existent value into the presentation.
Clicking the name of a Dynamic Content item opens it in a new window, where you can troubleshoot, test, and reconfigure it to resolve the issue.
Viewing Errors by Slide
You can also view issues by slide. Open the Group by dropdown and select Slide.
Dynamic Content–level issues (such as query errors or failures running a Dynamic Content item) appear in the first section, labeled as the template.
Slide-specific issues (such as insertion failures caused by upstream errors) appear within each slide’s section.
Downloading a CSV File of Warnings and Errors
If you are a Matik admin, you can download a CSV list of all generated presentations with error information.
To download, navigate to the Analytics page in Matik. On the Generated Presentations graph, apply any desired filters and click Download CSV.
The downloaded .csv file can be opened in spreadsheet tools like Google Slides or Excel or in a text editor. It will contain the following columns:
|
Field |
Description |
| created_on |
Date presentation was created on |
| errors | Any errors that occurred while generating the presentation (See below on errors) |
| groups_array | All of the user groups of user who generated the presentation |
| params | The inputs and values used to generate the presentation |
| status | Generation status: "Done" - the presentation generated; "Error" - The presentation was not able to generate due to an error (See below on errors) |
| status_message | Blank if presentation generated; Status message if failed (See below on errors) |
| template_name | Template name |
| title | Title of the user who generated presentation |
| user_name | The user who generated presentation |
Errors with Dynamic Content will still result in a generated presentation in Matik, however, the Dynamic Content with the error will not be populated. When this is the case the "error" column will be populated with more information about the specific error(s) that occurred.
A presentation will not generate when a major error occurs. The "errors" column will be blank, "Status" column will be "error", and "status_message" column will detail the failure reason.
